DofE Designated On-Call Positions 2025


Role: DofE Designated On-Call(DOC).

Start date: March 2025 onwards.

Pay: £50 per day increasing to £200 per day if called out to assist in person on program. Administration/phone calls paid pro rata.

Contract: Non-contract - This is a freelance position.

Location: Home based / UK wide if called to assist.

Minimum qualification requirement: Higher Level Award.

Extras: £0.45 per mile fuel allowance.

We are recruiting Designated On-Call Managers to join our industry leading team for 2025 onwards.

Successful candidates will have experience of expedition or course management with various outdoor education and adventure companies similar to ours.

Applicants must be high performing professionals with the ability to work effectively with our team, and participants from differing backgrounds.

Ideally the candidate will have substantial experience of the DofE expedition section or similar.

Our DofE courses operate throughout the U.K.

Designated On-Call Manager positions are available to those with (as a minimum);

  • Higher Level Award.

  • 16 hour outdoor first aid.

  • Current clear Enhanced DBS check.

  • Full UK driving license.

  • Operational Experience with Sam Sykes Ltd.

  • Safeguarding Qualification.

Recruitment steps;

  2. If stage 1 successful, candidates will be asked to upload their details through our application portal.

  3. Following a review of the uploaded details, an in person interview will be arranged at Sam Sykes HQ with our Operations Manager. This will also be an opportunity for you to interview us, and discuss the role in more detail with your preferred short and long term outcomes presented to our senior team.

  4. If successful at interview, your references will be contacted along with any other safeguarding procedures completed and documentation checked.

  5. Following positive outcomes from the references, safeguarding and documentation checks in step 4, an induction process and internal training process will be arranged with you.

  6. You will then be required to take an examination, demonstrating that you have a thorough understanding of our Company Policy Document and Operating Procedures.
